FAQ
Got questions?
We’ve heard them all — from “why’s my pool green?” to “how often should I really be cleaning this thing?” Here are the answers.
Can I convert my chlorine pool to a saltwater pool?
The short answer is yes. Most swimming pools can be converted by installing a saltwater chlorinator system.
Do I empty my pool or turn it off over winter?
Neither option is beneficial for your pool structure or equipment. Emptying your pool risks structural damage, while turning it off risks equipment failure, especially with the pump.
What if my swimming pool goes green?
There are two options. I can provide a “Green to Clean” chemical treatment, or the pool can be emptied, cleaned, and refilled for a complete restart of both water and equipment.
Do you service swimming pools regularly?
Yes! I can tailor a service plan to your needs. Some pools require more frequent maintenance, such as chlorine pools or those near trees.
Do you offer a winter service for holiday rental properties?
Yes. I offer a monthly winter service (at the same cost as a regular summer visit) to keep your pool equipment running and your water looking clean and inviting, even when the pool is not in use.
Can you teach me how to use my pool and equipment?
Yes. I offer a personalised one-on-one service to show you how to maintain and care for your pool and equipment.
Do you do pre-purchase pool inspections?
Yes. I can provide a comprehensive report before you buy a property.
Do you supply pool equipment and chemicals?
Yes. I supply a wide range of equipment (poles, nets, brushes, baskets, and hoses) along with chlorinators, pumps, salt, chemicals, and test strips.
How often should I get my pool serviced?
Most pools benefit from a weekly or fortnightly service, but it depends on usage, pool type, and location.
Do I need to balance my pool water if I’m not swimming in it?
Yes. Even if the pool isn’t being used, the water chemistry still needs to be balanced to protect your pool surface and equipment.
Can you fix or replace faulty pool equipment?
Yes. I can repair or replace pumps, chlorinators, filters, and other equipment as needed. If something can’t be repaired, I can source and install suitable replacements.
What areas do you service?
I cover Havelock North, Hastings, Napier, and the surrounding areas. If you’re outside the Hawke’s Bay region, get in touch and we can discuss options.
Do I need to be home during a service?
No. As long as I have access to your pool, servicing can be carried out while you’re away.
Can you service my pool if I live overseas?
Yes, absolutely! This is a core part of my service for many clients who live abroad. I provide a complete “walk-in ready” service, handling all regular maintenance while you’re away. This gives you peace of mind knowing your pool will be sparkling and ready to use the moment you arrive back.
